A recent agreement between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Gas Marketing Limited (NNPCL) and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lagos signifies a key development in utilizing Nigeria’s gas resources for industrial growth and economic prosperity. The deal outlines the supply of natural gas for power generation and feedstock at the refinery.
The Managing Director of NGML, Justin Ezeala, and the President/CEO of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, signed the agreement at Dangote’s Corporate Head Office in Lagos. This collaboration, with an initial 10-year supply agreement for 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, demonstrates a significant move towards enhancing domestic gas utilization and supporting the operational success of the refinery.
NNPC Ltd, through its subsidiary NGML, aims to promote the use of domestic gas to benefit industries and businesses nationwide. The partnership between NNPC Ltd and Dangote refinery reflects a commitment to local production and energy security, showcasing NGML’s dedication to strategic gas projects across Nigeria.
The Dangote refinery’s 435MW power plant has the capacity to meet the power requirements of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, marking a substantial contribution to the energy sector in Nigeria.
