NNPP faction denies Olopoeyan’s suspension

The New Nigeria People’s Party has refuted claims of suspending its South-West leader, Adebisi Olopoeyan, and other Oyo State executive members for three months. The party’s National Secretary, Sunday Oginni, dismissed the reports as false and urged the public to disregard them.

Oginni clarified that Olopoeyan, a prominent figure in Ibadan politics, remains the Southwest Leader and a significant National Leader of the party. He denounced any pronouncements of suspension by a faction falsely posing as NNPP, particularly referencing Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s faction, which has been expelled from the party.

Amidst the turmoil, NNPP called for peace among Oyo State members, assuring them that appropriate measures would be taken against Kwankwaso and his cohorts. The party expressed unwavering support for Olopoeyan, affirming confidence in his leadership.

NNPP emphasized its trust in Olopoeyan as a National Leader, as reiterated by Oginni. The party also mentioned the directive for six suspended state executives to appear before the National Disciplinary Committee following the dissolution of executive committees in five state chapters, including Taraba, Gombe, Benue, Oyo, and Bauchi. This move was part of NNPP’s efforts to revamp the party and address internal challenges.
