In Kuje Area Council of the FCT, peace has been restored following a violent clash that resulted in the loss of life due to a suspected accidental discharge by a police officer. Residents have resumed their normal activities in the area. The conflict began after an altercation between two individuals near a supermarket, escalating into a larger confrontation despite the intervention of the police officer on duty. Tragically, a bystander was accidentally shot in the head during the commotion. Subsequently, unrest ensued among the youth, leading to the destruction of a vehicle at the scene. Military and additional police presence was necessary to quell the disturbance. The Commissioner of Police for the FCT confirmed awareness of the incident and reported that the involved officer was in custody, with an investigation underway.
