NPFL unveils Prostar official match ball

The Nigeria Premier Football League has introduced the Prostar match ball as the official ball for the second half of the 2024/25 season.

In a communication sent out by NPFL CEO Davidson Owumi to all club officials, this move signifies a new phase in the league’s commitment to excellence and professionalism.

Previously, the Nigerian topflight used imported match balls but has now partnered with the local brand, Prostar.

The Prostar match ball, meeting FIFA’s international match standards, features diamond-pattern soft-touch thermal bonded PU leather, a micro-shell coated butyl bladder, and 32 aerodynamic panels for superior precision and durability.

Weighing between 400-430 grams, with a bounce range of 1.1-1.4 meters and conforming to official size 5 standards, the ball is set to elevate the playing experience for both players and spectators.

“Henceforth, only the official balls are to be used in all NPFL matches during the upcoming fixtures,” stated the circular.

The second half of the current season is scheduled to recommence on January 25.

Remo Stars lead the NPFL with 36 points from 19 games, followed by Rivers United with 34 points in second place, and 3SC in third place with 33 points.

The relegation battle is heating up with Nasarawa United (16), Akwa United (19), Lobi Stars (20), and Plateau United (20) currently in the relegation zone, while teams like Sunshine Stars, Bendel Insurance, Heartland, and others in the lower half are still fighting for safety.
