Nwaneri becomes third-youngest scorer in UCL knockout stage

A young talent from Arsenal, Ethan Nwaneri, made history in the Champions League by scoring in a knockout match against PSV Eindhoven. At 17 years old, he became the third-youngest player to achieve this feat, showcasing his skills with an impressive goal from a cross by Myles Lewis-Skelly. This marked his eighth goal of the season, demonstrating his contribution to the team under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

Despite facing injuries to key players, Nwaneri has stepped up in Arsenal’s attack, proving his worth with crucial goals. His goal against PSV Eindhoven placed him behind only Bojan Krkic and Jude Bellingham as one of the youngest scorers in a Champions League knockout match.

Nwaneri’s performance also outshined Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala and earned him a spot in Arsenal’s starting lineup, making him one of the few English players to start a Champions League knockout game before turning 18. His partnership with Lewis-Skelly resulted in a historic moment as they became the first pair of English teenagers to combine for a goal in Champions League history.

Arsenal’s impressive victory over PSV Eindhoven puts them in a favorable position for the quarter-finals, likely to face Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. Captain Martin Odegaard praised the club’s young talents for their contribution to the team’s success.
