Traders in the Mowe and Ibafo areas of Ogun State are facing a downturn in business due to a decrease in customer patronage, largely attributed to the rising costs of goods and commodities.
They have expressed concerns over the impact of high inflation and economic hardship on their sales, with many reporting losses in their businesses.
One trader, Ruth, highlighted how fluctuating prices have affected consumer purchasing power, leading to reduced sales and negatively impacting her business.
Another trader, Mrs. Azeezat Aminu, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the high prices of commodities have deterred customers from making frequent purchases.
Mrs. Sola Akinwunmi, a grocery trader, shared how the decline in sales has resulted in some of her goods expiring, causing significant losses until the product manufacturer intervened to exchange the expired items.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun Governor, Lekan Adeniran, have been unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
