Ohanaeze Ndigbo appoints new president-general for 27-day tenure

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has appointed Fidelis Chukwu as its new president-general, as confirmed by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia.

Chukwu will serve out the remaining tenure for Imo State until January 10, 2025, following the passing of two previous leaders from the state.

The statement explains that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was initially presented for the position after the demise of George Obiozor, but due to his unfortunate passing, Nze Ozichukwu was chosen to complete the term.

Elders present during the appointment praised the new president’s intellect and outstanding qualities.

In response, Lucky Ekeji, President of the Rivers State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, expressed his satisfaction that the next president-general hails from his state.
