A significant pledge was made by the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, towards the horticultural landscaping of the Obafemi Awolowo University campus in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Tinubu, during a visit to the university, announced a generous donation of N1bn for this project.
Reflecting on her time as a student at the university, Tinubu expressed her fond memories of the campus’s once beautiful landscape. She emphasized the need to revive the campus’s greenery, which has deteriorated over the years due to poor maintenance.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, honored Tinubu by naming a road, pavilion, and monument after her on the OAU campus. Tinubu acknowledged these gestures and pledged her support towards restoring the campus’s horticultural landscape.
In recognition of her contributions to humanity, Oba Ogunwusi highlighted Senator Tinubu’s leadership and dedication to education, women’s empowerment, and national unity. He commended her virtues and the projects named after her, symbolizing her impactful work in society.
The projects, including a hostel, pavilion, and road, aim to enhance the university’s infrastructure and provide better amenities for students. The efforts to immortalize Tinubu’s legacy through these projects were applauded during the event.
Osun State Governor, represented by his deputy, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving infrastructural facilities across the state, supporting initiatives that uplift educational institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University.
