OpenAI has recently announced a significant update to its ChatGPT AI, integrating image generation directly into the chatbot. This new feature allows users to create and modify images using GPT-4o. The company shared a sample image on its website to showcase the improved text accuracy in AI-generated visuals compared to older models.
The goal of this update is to enhance the quality of AI-generated content by addressing past limitations in rendering text and intricate details. Although ChatGPT with DALL·E integration has been able to generate images previously, this latest update aims to make the process faster, more interactive, and improve features like inpainting.
OpenAI expressed its belief that image generation should be a primary capability of language models, leading to the integration of an advanced image generator into GPT‑4o. This allows for the creation of both beautiful and useful images.
The image generation feature is now available across various subscription tiers, including Plus, Pro, Team, and Free. OpenAI CEO highlighted that this update will provide users with a new level of creative freedom, acknowledging that while remarkable content can be created, there is a possibility of some outputs being controversial.
The CEO emphasized the importance of user control over the tool’s outputs, aiming to prevent the creation of offensive content unless intentionally desired. OpenAI intends to monitor the impact of this update and listen to feedback from society to ensure responsible usage of the technology.
