A young girl in Osogbo, Osun State, has come forward with allegations against a clergyman in the town, claiming that he, identified only as Femi, who is said to be her stepfather, impregnated her when she was 13 years old.
The girl, now 16 years old, reached out to an NGO called the World Institute for Peace to report the incident and seek Alternative Dispute Resolution.
In an affidavit sworn at the Osun State Ministry of Justice, she stated that her stepfather made her undergo an abortion after impregnating her.
She also disclosed that she confided in her school teacher after enduring years of abuse from her stepfather.
During a meeting organized by the NGO for Alternative Dispute Resolution, the girl recounted her experiences with her stepfather, stating that the abuse began when she was only 12 years old and that he continued to have sexual relations with her.
She mentioned that she chose not to take legal action against him out of concern for her younger siblings, who are also his children.
At the meeting, Femi, who is a pastor and a commercial motorcyclist, admitted to the allegations, claiming that he was instructed by God to engage in the acts.
The victim’s mother, on her daughter’s behalf, swore an affidavit detailing the events and expressing the family’s decision to settle the matter internally.
Lamina Omotoyosi, the chairman of the NGO, emphasized the importance of safeguarding children, particularly from close relatives, and expressed concern over the rising incidents of incest in the state.
