Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the release of an additional N200m for the payment of gratuities to retirees in the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti by the Permanent Secretary, Pension Transition Arrangement Department, Mr. Francis Omotoso, via an official statement.
Omotoso disclosed that the newly released funds would be used to settle gratuities for state government pensioners up to July 2015.
“The approval is another significant step towards offsetting the backlog of outstanding gratuities and other entitlements of retirees owed by previous administrations, in line with the continuity and shared prosperity agenda of the Oyebanji administration,” he said.
The permanent secretary reaffirmed Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of retirees in the state and urged beneficiaries to proceed to the PTAD Office at the Old Governor’s Office for documentation in preparation for cheque collection.
So far, the Oyebanji-led administration has disbursed over N7.2bn in gratuity payments to retirees in the past 30 months, underscoring its dedication to addressing pension-related liabilities.
