The government of Oyo State has successfully registered 12,128 hospitality establishments to monitor and coordinate their operations effectively. The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, revealed this during a press conference at the Eleyele Waterfront in Ibadan. He highlighted the significant increase in registered hospitality ventures, including hotels, nightclubs, event centers, eateries, and tour operators, attributing this growth to the supportive environment created by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The state has experienced a surge in tourist visits, with daily numbers reaching 18,152 compared to 1,604 before the current administration. The upcoming ‘Valentine Cruise’ event aims to promote peace, love, friendship, and tolerance among residents and visitors while boosting aquatic tourism, creating job opportunities, and enhancing the state’s economy.
The Commissioner emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering tourism growth, with a substantial increase in registered hotels, nightclubs, event centers, and eateries. The administration’s efforts have led to a significant rise in the number of registered hospitality ventures in Oyo State.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Royal Entertainment Cruise for the Valentine’s Day celebration underscores the state’s dedication to promoting culture and tourism. Dr. Sanni Bamidele, CEO of Royal Entertainment Cruise, commended Governor Makinde’s initiatives in advancing tourism and culture in Oyo State, expressing confidence in the event’s success and ensuring participants’ safety and enjoyment. The press conference was attended by officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, highlighting the government’s commitment to tourism development in the state.
