Pan African Towers appoints Oladipo Badru as acting CEO

A Nigerian telecommunications infrastructure provider, Pan African Towers, has appointed Oladipo Badru as the acting chief executive officer, starting in November 2024.

Badru, who previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, has taken over from Azeez Amida, who stepped down after two and a half years as managing director and CEO to pursue other opportunities.

The chairman of Pan African Towers, Adefolarin Ogunsanya, expressed gratitude for Amida’s contributions to the company and wished him success in his future endeavors. Badru has the support of the executive management team to ensure a smooth transition, and the company is confident in his leadership.

With this new leadership, Pan African Towers aims to enhance its position in the competitive telecom tower infrastructure market, which is currently dominated by major players like IHS Towers, American Tower Corporation (ATC), and Helios Towers.

Pan African Towers currently operates 764 active towers in Nigeria, catering to over 1,200 tenants, including mobile network operators (MNOs) and internet service providers (ISPs) such as 9mobile, ntel, Bitflux, Spectranet, and Smile Communications.

In late November, the company secured undisclosed funding from Development Partners International (DPI) and Verod Capital to fuel its growth. The investment will support efforts to expand its tower footprint significantly in the coming years, along with plans for potential acquisitions and partnerships.
