Following the reduction of France international Paul Pogba’s initial four-year doping ban to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the World Cup-winning midfielder can now resume his career earlier than expected. Pogba, who faced the possibility of early retirement, is now allowed to start training with Juventus in January 2025 and participate in official matches by March. The ban reduction came after a positive test for DHEA, a banned substance primarily affecting females, and CAS ruled that Pogba’s use was accidental. This decision not only shortened his ban but also revoked his original €5,000 fine. The ruling brings an end to months of uncertainty, allowing the 31-year-old to plan his football comeback. Pogba had previously denied the doping allegation and vowed to appeal the ban, asserting he never intentionally used prohibited substances.
