Ahead of an upcoming National Executive Committee meeting of a certain political party scheduled for October 24, there seems to be a disagreement between two party leaders regarding the region from which a replacement for the party’s acting National Chairman should be selected.
There have been internal conflicts within the party since 2023, with some members criticizing the current acting National Chairman for not implementing effective reforms.
A group of party members from the North Central region is demanding the replacement of the acting National Chairman from their region, citing a specific section of the party’s constitution that supports their stance.
A former National Publicity Secretary of the party and a 2023 PDP governorship aspirant in Ogun State hold contrasting views on the issue. While one argues that the replacement should come from the North Central region, the other believes the position is not region-specific.
The disagreement centers around whether the North Central region should have the exclusive right to nominate a replacement or if the selection should be based on merit and party unity.
