The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the expulsion of a House of Representatives member from Imo State by a ward chapter within the party. The PDP released a statement declaring the expulsion null and void, citing inconsistencies with specific sections of the party’s constitution. The expelled member was accused of gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities, leading to the expulsion by the party’s executive in Ideato LGA. However, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary emphasized that the expulsion did not follow the party’s established rules and procedures. The NWC clarified that only the National Executive Committee has the authority to address disciplinary matters concerning certain party members, including National Assembly members. The statement reiterated that the expelled member is still a valid member of the party and urged members in Imo State to remain united for the party’s benefit.
