The Plateau State Government has announced its intention to prosecute 40 individuals suspected of engaging in sex work and cult activities. The arrests were made during a police operation targeting black spots in the Bukuru area of Jos South Local Government Area. The suspects, including young adults, were apprehended for various offenses, such as being members of the Sara-Suka cult and involvement in prostitution. The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development expressed disapproval of prostitution among young girls and emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the issue. Those arrested will face prosecution as a deterrent to others, followed by rehabilitation efforts for the sex workers.
