Polaris Bank, Amtis Skills Place partner to empower young designers

A recent collaboration between Polaris Bank and Amtis Skills Place has led to the launch of the 2024 Amtis Fashion Competition aimed at identifying, training, and mentoring young designers.

Amtis Skills Place, established in 2015, focuses on equipping Nigerian youth with contemporary vocational skills.

The competition, sponsored by Polaris Bank, brought together emerging designers aged 18 to 35 to create garments inspired by vintage styles, with teams consisting of fashion designers, makeup artists, and models collaborating.

Judging criteria included creativity, craftsmanship, teamwork, and adherence to the vintage theme, highlighting classic fashion eras and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The competition concluded with an awards ceremony where Wuraola Robert emerged as the winner of the top prize of N500,000, followed by second and third-place winners who received N300,000 and N200,000, respectively.

Addressing the participants on behalf of Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Lawal emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting dreams through partnerships like the one with Amtis Vintage Fashion, hinting at bigger and more inclusive events in the future.

Omotunde Adebusola, the Managing Director of Amtis Skills Place, expressed gratitude to Polaris Bank for its significant contribution to entrepreneurship, particularly through the successful competition, and anticipated further fruitful collaborations.
