Authorities in Rivers State have apprehended a woman linked to a debit card swap scam at an ATM in Port Harcourt, resulting in a loss of over ₦500,000. The suspect, identified as Blessing Oleru, was captured following a report from the victim. The victim reported the incident after discovering unauthorized withdrawals from their account, which occurred after the suspect swapped the victim’s ATM card while offering assistance at a malfunctioning ATM. The suspect was arrested on February 5, 2025, and confessed to the crime during interrogation. A Point of Sale (PoS) machine was recovered from her possession. The police are currently investigating the case and working to apprehend other members of the syndicate involved in the fraudulent activity. This arrest underscores the commitment of the Rivers State Police Command to combat financial crimes and safeguard the interests of the public.
