Police confirm Trans-Niger pipeline explosion in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a fire incident on the Trans-Niger Delta Pipeline, which is operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company. The Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the fire was noticed during a security patrol and that SPDC promptly shut down the affected pipeline and implemented safety protocols. Iringe-Koko assured residents that the situation is now under control and there is no further threat to the environment or residents.

Although the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, Iringe-Koko mentioned that two individuals have been taken into custody for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation. The Police Command in Rivers State is conducting a thorough inquiry to ascertain the cause of the fire and is committed to ensuring the safety of the community while also holding any wrongdoers accountable.
