The Police Command in Kwara State has successfully thwarted two kidnapping attempts and apprehended four suspects across two local government areas. The arrests were made in Baruten and Ifelodun areas, with suspects Tukur Muhammad, Yahaya Abdullahi, Umar Sanni, and Dairu Isiaku being taken into custody. The suspects had attempted to extort money from victims through threats of kidnapping.
One incident involved a victim receiving threatening demands for ransom, leading to a swift police response resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Tukur Muhammad and Yahaya Abdullahi. Further investigations revealed a pattern of criminal behavior by the suspects, utilizing various phone numbers to carry out their extortion schemes.
In a separate operation, two more suspects, Umar Sanni and Dairu Isiaku, were arrested for attempting to extort N5m from victims in Ifelodun. The police acted on reports of threatening calls and messages, leading to the apprehension of the suspects who confessed to their involvement in the crimes.
The Commissioner of Police commended the efforts of the operatives and reiterated the command’s dedication to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of residents. All suspects have been charged and remanded in a federal correctional facility.
