Police in Edo State successfully rescued Osazee Okungbowa, a kidnap victim, who was taken from the Power line area in Owanoba Community near Benin. The state’s Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, confirmed the rescue and stated that Okungbowa has been reunited with his family after receiving necessary medical care. Efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
Okungbowa was abducted on February 7, 2025, by five armed men from his residence. He was rescued the following day by operatives of the Ologbo Division. Similarly, a suspected cultist named Kelly Osayawe was arrested for attempted murder at a burial event where he fired shots into the air, injuring a bystander named Cletus Nzube.
In another incident, police recovered a stolen car after thieves abandoned it to evade capture by officers. The vehicle was intercepted by the Okuaihe Division following a distress call reporting the carjacking. The owner was identified, and the car was returned to them.
Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, expressed gratitude to the community for their support and encouraged the public to remain vigilant in order to maintain safety in Edo State.
