A 30-year-old man, Samuel Egbetokun, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly poisoning cows in the Alabata community of the Odeda Local Government Area. Two out of the three cows affected by the harmful substance died instantly before the cattle rearer could intervene. The suspect reportedly mixed cassava with rat poison and fed it to the grazing cows. The cattle rearer realized the poison after the cows started collapsing. The incident was reported by a 54-year-old man, Idris Lawal, after his cattle rearer witnessed the poisoning. The police conducted an investigation, recovered the poisoned cassava as evidence, and the suspect confessed to the crime upon arrest. The Commissioner of Police expressed concerns about potential retaliation and warned against such actions.
