The Rivers State Police Command has reported the elimination of a suspected kidnapper and cultist named Gbarani Bume in the Luawii Community of Khana Local Government Area. Bume, also known as Pelele, was a member of the notorious Iceland cult group that has been causing havoc in the Beree/Tabaa area of Khana LGA alongside his accomplices.
According to the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred when Pelele and his gang tried to abduct a site engineer in Luawii. Acting on a tip-off, the police intervened, leading to a confrontation where Pelele was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire.
The police statement highlighted the successful operation against the criminal activities of Pelele and his gang, emphasizing the recovery of weapons such as an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 10 rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing to capture the remaining gang members and bring them to justice, reflecting the police’s dedication to combating crime and safeguarding public security in the state.
