Police nab mother for killing baby, parade over 30 suspects in Delta

The Delta State Police Command recently paraded more than 30 suspects involved in various crimes, such as robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and murder. The arrests led to the recovery of 150 arms, including 32 AK-47 rifles. The state Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, made this known at a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Asaba.

The commissioner highlighted successful operations, including the recovery of a 10-month-old baby’s body from a river after the child’s mother confessed to throwing the baby in due to mockery. Another incident involved the rescue of kidnapped victims along DLA Road in Asaba, where armed hoodlums abandoned their vehicle upon police intervention.

In a separate operation, suspects linked to multiple robberies were apprehended, and arms were seized. Notably, the arrest of a suspect who confessed to being hired to kidnap a young boy for a fee and the recovery of a significant number of arms were mentioned as achievements by CP Olufemi.

A total of 678 suspects were arrested, and 150 arms, including several rifles, were recovered during the period under review. The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to maintaining the safety and security of residents, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in providing vital information to combat crime effectively.
