During a routine stop-and-search operation along the Oghara-Warri Road close to Western Delta University, the Delta State Police Command successfully recovered three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 3,120 rounds of ammunition. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, highlighted the significance of stop-and-search as a proactive measure in combating crime in the state.
SP Bright explained that the discovery of the weapons was made in a hidden compartment within a vehicle after a thorough search by the officers. The suspect admitted to the presence of the rifles and ammunition in the concealed compartment, which was not visible upon initial inspection of the vehicle.
The ongoing investigation is aimed at uncovering further details regarding the incident. SP Bright reassured the public of the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to ensuring the safety of residents. He encouraged cooperation from the public in supporting law enforcement efforts, particularly in stop-and-search operations, to enhance security and reduce crime in the state.
