The police in Kogi State sought assistance from the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Tijani Ahmed-Anaje, to address crimes and criminal activities within the region. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, visited the traditional ruler along with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, to strengthen the relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and Traditional Institutions.
During the visit, Dantawaye emphasized the importance of collaboration to enhance security, maintain peace, and prevent potential threats in Kogi State. He also sought the Ohinoyi’s blessings for a successful tenure, acknowledging his proactive leadership in addressing security challenges and maintaining peace within the Egbira Kingdom.
Describing the Ohinoyi as a leader of integrity, humility, and wisdom, Dantawaye praised his efforts in promoting peace, unity, and youth development. He highlighted the AIG’s mentorship in shaping his policing approach and expressed confidence in further improving the safety and security of the state under their guidance.
Emphasizing the Command’s dedication to peace and stability, Dantawaye encouraged other traditional leaders to collaborate with security agencies by providing intelligence and educating their communities on the importance of law and order. The Ohinoyi, in response, appreciated the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Kogi, recognizing the challenges of policing in a dynamic society and urging officers to uphold professionalism, justice, and fairness in their interactions with citizens.
