The Ogun State Police Command has stated that an investigation is ongoing as a singer known as Portable turned himself in to the authorities. The Lagos State Police Command revealed that the singer surrendered himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba earlier in the morning and would be transferred to Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed Portable’s arrival at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta, mentioning that his presence is related to an ongoing investigation. The statement assured that due process would be followed, and updates would be provided as needed.
The police spokesperson mentioned that the investigation would continue, treating Portable’s case like any other Nigerian. The timeline for his court appearance was not disclosed. Portable had claimed in a video that he was receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital, following being declared wanted by the police for an altercation with government officials in Ogun State.
Allegedly, Portable and his associates were involved in a violent confrontation with enforcement officers, resulting in injuries to the officials. Portable had been evading police invitations, leading to a court order declaring him wanted. In response, Portable claimed he was being framed due to wearing a specific vest and emphasized his mental health condition.
Nine of Portable’s associates were arraigned in court for various charges related to the altercation. They pleaded not guilty to the accusations brought against them.
