PSC chair warns against bribery in police academy admission

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has emphasized that any candidate found attempting to offer bribes or compromise the ongoing admission process into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, will face immediate disqualification.

Argungu delivered this warning during a supervisory visit to the academy, where he led a delegation to oversee the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening process.

During his visit, the PSC Chairman emphasized the importance of conducting the admission exercise with integrity, fairness, and equity.

According to a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the chairman cautioned candidates against engaging in unethical practices, stating that the process must be based on merit and transparency, with no room for negotiations involving money for consideration.

Ani quoted the PSC Chairman as assuring that “the commission will ensure the academy operates based on merit, fairness, accountability, and transparency.”

During his inspection of the academy, Argungu reviewed various facilities such as the moot court, clinic, library, lecture theatres, and screening centers.

He also addressed issues like malfunctioning computers, directing immediate rectification to ensure a smooth screening exercise.

Commending the academy’s leadership, particularly its Commandant, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, Argungu praised the innovative measures taken for the screening process, including the utilization of computer-based testing.

He highlighted the transparency of the process, allowing candidates to access their results immediately after submission to ensure accountability.
