RULAAC condemns Ajaero’s arrest, SERAP office raid

The Rule of Law Advocacy and Accountability Centre’s Executive Director expressed worry over recent events in Nigeria. These events included the arrest of the Nigeria Labour Congress President and the takeover of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project office. The Director condemned these actions by the security agencies, stating they pose a threat to democracy. He called for the release of the NLC President and an end to the siege on the SERAP office to protect civil liberties. Another group, the Take It Back Movement, criticized these incidents as signs of dictatorship where the President controls all institutions. They urged unity among trade unions, civil society, and the media to resist and defend the economic interests of the Nigerian people against oppressive policies. It’s essential to stand together to safeguard democracy and prevent the exploitation of the people’s future.
