Russia downs 77 Ukrainian drones overnight

An announcement from Russia’s defense ministry on Thursday revealed that 77 Ukrainian drones were brought down overnight. The incidents occurred shortly after Ukraine executed a significant strike on Moscow, marking the largest direct assault during the ongoing conflict.

The defense ministry shared that 30 drones were successfully intercepted and demolished in the western Bryansk region bordering Ukraine. Additionally, 25 drones were taken down over Kaluga. Further interceptions took place in Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov, and Belgorod regions.

Russia’s defensive efforts intensified after more than 90 drones were neutralized in the capital region on Tuesday. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the event as the “most extensive enemy drone attack on Moscow”.

The aftermath of Tuesday’s attack resulted in three casualties and several injuries, as 337 Ukrainian drones were intercepted nationwide.

On Thursday morning, various Ukrainian cities were under siege, with a tragic incident in Kherson leading to the death of a 42-year-old woman, as confirmed by regional military administration head Roman Mrochko. Reports of attacks on Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk also surfaced early Thursday.
