SeamlessHR raises $9 million Series-A extension from Gates Foundation and Helios Venture

A Nigerian company specializing in helping businesses manage HR functions has successfully secured a $9 million Series-A extension round, as confirmed by sources familiar with the matter.

The company, known as SeamlessHR, received this new funding from the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures, following its initial $10 million Series A round in 2022.

With plans to utilize the fresh capital for expanding its operations across Africa, SeamlessHR aims at potential acquisitions as part of its growth strategy, as disclosed by insiders. Discussions about acquiring another HR tech startup in Nigeria have also been reportedly in progress.

Although the initial target was $10 million, SeamlessHR successfully raised $9 million, bringing its total funds raised to approximately $25 million. The startup had previously secured funding from various investors, including TLCom, Capria, Lateral Frontiers, Ingressive Capital, Enza Capital, Tofino Capital, Ventures platform, and Consonance Investment Managers in previous funding rounds.

The Co-founder and CEO of SeamlessHR, Emmanuel Okeleji, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s progress over the past five years, highlighting their dedication to enhancing workforce productivity and offering financial solutions to empower Africans.

Established in 2018, SeamlessHR offers cloud-based HR software solutions that streamline human resources management processes. Their platform covers a wide range of HR functions, from core operations to performance management, payroll, and recruitment. In 2024, an e-procurement platform was also added to their product lineup. The company has gained prominence as a leading HR tech provider in Africa, serving clients in Nigeria, Ghana, and Tunisia, including reputable organizations such as PwC, Sterling Bank, and Lagos Business School.
