SeamlessHR, a Nigerian HR-tech startup, has strategic plans to broaden its reach by focusing on government agencies. This strategic move aims to tap into the expanding public sector market in Nigeria. With a vast workforce of over 720,000 civil servants, the Nigerian government presents a lucrative opportunity for SeamlessHR, offering a stable and high-value market for sustainable growth.
Having primarily catered to mid-to-large enterprises, SeamlessHR is currently engaged in discussions with various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), including the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), to integrate them into its platform. The company’s Chief Technology Officer, Deji Lana, mentioned that SeamlessHR already provides services like performance management to Nigeria’s Port Authority (NPA) and recruitment solutions to the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program.
Lana expressed confidence in the company’s ability to transition into the public sector successfully. He highlighted that SeamlessHR’s achievements in the private sector have laid a strong foundation for entering the government sector. The platform is designed to be adaptable to the specific requirements of government agencies, addressing issues such as transparency, ghost workers, and fair resource allocation.
As SeamlessHR ventures into the government sector, it faces competition within Nigeria’s HR-tech industry. Despite the emergence of new players challenging its position, SeamlessHR remains optimistic. Lana emphasized that while global HR-tech giants pose competition, SeamlessHR’s in-depth understanding of local challenges gives it a competitive edge.
SeamlessHR sees immense potential in serving the Nigerian government sector, envisioning a crucial role in the digital transformation of government operations through efficient HR solutions. While transitioning government agencies to its platform may pose challenges due to existing legacy systems and lengthy procurement processes, SeamlessHR aims to facilitate this transition gradually.
Apart from targeting government agencies, SeamlessHR is exploring advancements like AI integration, hinting at developing an AI-powered recruitment agent to enhance its offerings. The company’s focus remains steadfast on aiding Nigeria’s public sector in modernizing HR functions, with overcoming bureaucratic hurdles and securing government contracts being key to its success in this sector.
