The manager of Fulham has expressed his belief that Alex Iwobi, the Nigerian international, has been one of the standout performers for the club this season. Since his arrival at Fulham last season, Iwobi has proven to be a key player under the management of Marco Silva.
Iwobi has made significant contributions to the team, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the 11 Premier League matches he has played this season. His most recent goal came in Fulham’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, helping them climb to eighth place in the league standings.
Despite competition for starting positions, Iwobi has consistently been in the starting lineup for all of Fulham’s Premier League games this season. Manager Silva praised Iwobi’s performance and justified his selection over other players based on his impressive form.
Silva also acknowledged the strong performances of other players like Adama Traoré and Reiss Nelson, highlighting the healthy competition within the squad. He emphasized the importance of maintaining form and team balance in his selection decisions.
Regarding Harry Wilson, who has also shown good form, Silva commended his impact off the bench and his sharpness in front of goal. He praised Wilson’s ability to make quick and decisive contributions to the team.
Silva also mentioned the growing partnership between Wilson and Iwobi, noting their understanding on the field and the chances they create together. He expressed satisfaction with the connection they have developed.
As Iwobi prepares to join the Nigerian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Silva will be without his services during the international break. Nigeria currently leads their qualifying group and a win in the upcoming matches will secure their spot in the tournament.
