Single-window for trade will boost ports revenue – FIRS

A recent stakeholders forum in Lagos saw the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Inland Revenue Service emphasizing the benefits of the National Single Window (NSW) in optimizing revenue from import and export activities. The deployment of the NSW is expected to streamline processes, reduce leakages, and enhance revenue generation capabilities.

The FIRS boss stressed the importance of collaboration for the success of the program, stating that increased revenues can support critical infrastructure projects and overall economic development in the country. He urged for a united effort to establish Nigeria as a key trade hub in Africa through the effective implementation of the National Single Window system.

The Minister of State for Finance also commended the NSW, highlighting its potential to improve transparency, increase revenue, and facilitate compliance with tax regulations. Similarly, the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Investment discussed the project’s role in simplifying trade procedures, enhancing transparency, and promoting ease of doing business by providing a centralized digital platform for trade documentation.
