Tears as Customs officer, wife, four kids die in Osun fire

The Osun State Fire Service has initiated an investigation into a tragic fire incident that claimed the lives of a Customs officer, Tijani Kabiru, his wife, and four children in Ede. The fire, which occurred in the early morning in the Akankan Area of Ede, led to the devastating loss of lives and caused sorrow in the community.

Reports from a neighbor indicated that smoke was noticed coming from Kabiru’s house around 3 am. The fire service was promptly contacted, but unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the house had already been engulfed in flames. Kabiru, his wife, and four children perished in the fire, while one child managed to escape.

The State Fire Service confirmed the incident, stating that six lives were lost in the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, as the exact reason for the inferno remains unknown. Emergency responders received the distress call at 3:21 am and quickly dispatched teams to the scene.

The fire claimed the lives of Kabiru, his wife, and four children, with significant property damage estimated at N200m. The surviving child, a 13-year-old boy, was the sole survivor from the family of seven. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the authorities, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
