A letter was sent to the Senate on Friday by a high-ranking official requesting the confirmation of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff. The letter, according to a statement from the official’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, is in line with constitutional provisions and the Armed Forces Act.
Lt. General Oluyede was appointed as the Acting Chief of Army Staff on October 30 due to the illness of a senior military officer, who unfortunately passed away on November 5. The official expressed confidence in Oluyede’s leadership abilities and experience to ensure national security and stability.
Oluyede, a seasoned officer with a distinguished career, has held various command positions and has been involved in significant military operations throughout his service. He has been recognized with several honors and awards for his dedicated service and commitment to duty.
In addition to his professional achievements, Oluyede is a family man with a spouse and three children.
