Tinubu postpones FEC meeting over Lagbaja’s death

President Bola Tinubu rescheduled the Federal Executive Council meeting to a later date as a mark of respect for the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja. The meeting was postponed to honor the passing of the Army Chief, with Vice President Kashim Shettima leading council members in observing a minute’s silence.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the announcement, stating that ministers would visit Tinubu’s official residence to offer condolences. President Tinubu conveyed his sympathies to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, praising Lt. General Lagbaja’s service and contributions to the nation.

Flags were directed to be flown at half-mast nationwide for seven days to pay tribute to the late general. The rescheduled date for the Federal Executive Council meeting was not disclosed at the time of the announcement.
