President Tinubu has returned to work at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja after completing a two-week vacation. He was pictured at his desk receiving a briefing from the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Zacch Adedeji. Tinubu had recently returned from a working vacation in the United Kingdom and France.
His departure for the vacation was announced by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The statement mentioned that Tinubu would use the time for reflection on his administration’s economic reforms before returning to work. Concerns have been raised about delays in presenting the 2025 appropriation bill, with the House of Representatives urging prompt action in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
The Act stipulates that the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework should be submitted to the National Assembly at least three months before the annual budget, ensuring transparency and thorough evaluation of fiscal strategies. The House is keen on timely consideration and passage of the MTEF, Fiscal Strategy Paper, and 2025 Budget Estimates before the end of the fiscal year.
