Tinubu sends high-level delegation to Jigawa over tanker explosion

President Tinubu recently instructed a government delegation led by Senator George Akume to visit Jigawa State following a tragic fuel tanker explosion in Majiya village that resulted in over 105 fatalities. Emergency aid, including medical supplies, food, and shelter, is being provided to the injured and affected individuals. The delegation includes the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Transportation, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement. The tanker overturned near Khadija University, causing a fire that claimed lives and injured many. The delegation will assess the situation, visit the injured in hospitals, and offer condolences and support to the affected families and the people of Jigawa. President Tinubu expressed prayers for comfort and peace for the bereaved families and emphasized the government’s commitment to reviewing fuel transportation safety protocols and holding those responsible for safety breaches accountable to prevent such incidents in the future.
