The former president and his spouse have returned from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, after attending the 2024 G-20 leaders’ summit.
At the summit, which took place from November 18 to November 19, 2024, the former president engaged in talks to push forward Nigeria’s socio-economic improvements.
The G20 summit, led by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, centered on the theme of “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.” Discussions revolved around sustainable development in economic, social, and environmental aspects, global governance reforms, climate change, and the digital economy.
The gathering united leaders from the top 20 global economies, including the European Union, the African Union, and various multilateral financial institutions.
The G20 consists of 19 member countries, such as Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, the UK, and the US, along with the European Union.
Reports indicate that the former president’s attendance at the meeting was at the behest of the Brazilian president.
The former president was accompanied by key government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministers of Livestock Development, Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity, State for Agriculture and Food Security, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency.
