The recent Independent Awards 2024 celebrated remarkable achievements across various sectors, including politics, entertainment, and business. Senator Oluremi Tinubu was honored as the Best Woman of the Year, recognizing her dedication to the progress of Nigerian women and youths. During the gala night in Lagos, she highlighted the vital contributions of women and youths to the nation’s advancement, referring to them as the unsung heroes of Nigeria.
Represented by Fatima Tajudeen, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Independent Newspaper board for the recognition. She pledged to continue contributing to national development and thanked the event organizers for the prestigious award.
Furthermore, Chief Olabode George, a Peoples Democratic Party leader, emphasized the importance of resolving the crisis in Rivers State to prevent potential escalation and maintain stability in the country. He commended the Independent Newspaper for celebrating Nigeria’s achievers and urged the government to prioritize the well-being of all citizens.
The awards ceremony also honored other individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s growth. Notable awardees included Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Akande, Governor Charles Soludo, Governor Bassey Otu, Governor Abdullahi Sule, Governor Hope Uzodinma, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Otunba Mike Adenuga, Charles Odi, and Prof Abayomi Fasina.
