During the ‘One Nigeria’ project unveiling in Abuja, a member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Jaji, advised against premature discussions by prominent figures like former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje regarding the 2027 elections. Jaji emphasized the need to prioritize national unity over personal ambitions and political divisions.
The tension surrounding the potential re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 has escalated recently, with figures like Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former SGF Babachir Lawal expressing differing views. Ganduje’s statement cautioning northern politicians about their 2027 ambitions has added to the discourse, while El-Rufai highlighted concerns about the President’s relationship with the north.
Jaji urged politicians to refrain from stoking political tensions, especially considering that the Tinubu administration is still in its early stages. He stressed the importance of prioritizing national interests over personal gain and emphasized the need for a united approach to elections, citing the American policy election model as a potential guide for Nigeria.
NALGON National Chairman, Shaba Ibrahim, commended President Tinubu’s efforts in addressing critical issues like insecurity and economic challenges. He praised the President’s initiatives to improve economic stability, enhance security, and promote local government autonomy. Ibrahim also acknowledged the support of the Board of Trustees and security agencies in advancing the goals of the One Nigeria Project.
