Donald Trump arrived in Washington ahead of his inauguration, accompanied by his wife Melania and family members. He attended a private event at his golf club in Virginia, where he mentioned plans to sign a significant number of executive orders after being sworn in. Trump expressed his intention to start signing these orders immediately after delivering his inaugural address. The exact number of orders was not disclosed but indicated to be record-setting.
One of the key orders is expected to focus on reversing policies implemented during the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden. Additionally, Trump mentioned the initiation of a mass deportation program for undocumented migrants, which he stated would commence swiftly. Tom Homan, appointed as the “border czar,” mentioned a reevaluation of initial plans following leaks to the media about potential raids, indicating a shift in strategy.
The inauguration ceremony, originally planned for the US Capitol steps, was moved indoors due to anticipated cold weather. Despite protests in Washington over his policies, Trump is set to participate in various events, including laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery and addressing supporters at a rally.
