Turkey’s President praised the International Criminal Court’s decision to seek the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister and former defense minister. Erdogan expressed support for the arrest warrants and emphasized the importance of all member countries executing the decision to restore trust in the international system.
The ICC issued warrants against Israeli leaders and a Hamas military chief for crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza conflict. In response, Netanyahu accused the ICC of anti-Semitism. Erdogan, despite Turkey not being an ICC member, stressed the need for western countries to uphold their commitments.
Erdogan has been a vocal critic of Israel since the Gaza military offensive in October 2023. He has vowed to hold Israel’s prime minister accountable for the military campaign. Recently, Turkey and 52 other nations called on the United Nations to halt arms sales to Israel.
