Turkish firm, Zamfara to boost agriculture with advanced technology

A company from Turkey, Direkci Group, is preparing to launch mechanized farming and introduce greenhouse technology to enhance agriculture in Zamfara State. The Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, revealed that the Managing Director and CEO of Direkci Group, Nurullah Mehmet, led a delegation to meet with the Governor at the Government House in Gusau. The company aims to transform agriculture in Zamfara by cultivating crops like cotton, sugarcane, and soybeans on a large scale. In addition to traditional farming methods, they will implement advanced techniques such as mechanized farming, greenhouse technology, and poultry farming, offering significant benefits to various sectors.

Governor Lawal emphasized his administration’s commitment to achieving food security and generating employment opportunities for the people of Zamfara State. He stated that the state is known for agriculture, and their objective is to rejuvenate this sector by ensuring farm security and providing modern technologies to farmers. The Governor welcomed partnerships with reputable investors like Direkci Group, highlighting the company’s expertise in introducing agricultural technological advancements.

Mehmet praised Governor Lawal for the various projects initiated during his tenure, expressing Direkci’s commitment to enhancing agricultural value chains and promoting local economic growth in Zamfara State. The implementation of Greenhouses will enable year-round cultivation, leading to increased crop yield and quality, reducing the need for food imports. Mechanized farming and poultry initiatives are expected to create employment opportunities for individuals with diverse skill sets, ranging from farmworkers to agribusiness professionals.
