Two arrested for burglary, cable theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has made significant progress in addressing theft cases as they recently apprehended two suspects and recovered stolen items in separate incidents.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, one of the suspects, Sadiq Adebayo, was caught stealing burglary proofs from an unfinished building in the Imutu Ayanre community. The incident was reported by the chairman of the community, Yekinni Wasiu, leading to Adebayo’s arrest.

During interrogation, Adebayo confessed to stealing similar items and selling them to a scrap dealer named Abdullahi Sulaimon. The police visited the crime scene, gathered evidence, and recovered some of the stolen items. Abdullahi Sulaimon was also arrested for further investigation.

In a related incident on the same day, another suspect, Adekoya Odunowo, was caught with stolen electric wires. Investigations revealed that Odunowo had stolen weight moulders from block industries along the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye expressway. The stolen items, valued at N150,000 each, were sold to a scrap dealer named Rabiu Ismaila. Both Odunowo and Ismaila were arrested, and the stolen weight moulders were successfully recovered.

The Police Public Relations Officer assured the public that the suspects would face legal action once the investigations are completed. These arrests demonstrate the Ogun State Police Command’s dedication to combating theft and safeguarding property within the state.
