Two die as trucks collide on Sagamu-Benin Expressway

A tragic incident occurred on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of two lives. The collision between two trucks, one of which was driving against traffic, led to the fatalities.

An official familiar with the situation shared that the accident happened near the Nairaland Oil and Gas filling station, causing disruptions in traffic flow on the expressway.

The spokesperson for the state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency confirmed that the vehicles involved were an unregistered DAF truck and another DAF truck with a specific number plate. The collision resulted in two deaths and one person sustaining severe injuries.

The deceased were taken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue and handed over to the respective families. The incident was described as a case of route violation and excessive speeding by one of the drivers.

The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency expressed condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the importance of avoiding speeding to prevent such tragedies on the highway.

In a separate incident reported earlier, a road crash in the Ewekoro Local Government Area resulted in one fatality and injuries to two individuals. Speeding was identified as the cause of the accident, leading to a loss of control on the slippery road surface.
