A recent road incident at the Secretariat Junction in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, involved a truck falling off an overhead bridge, resulting in 14 individuals being hospitalized. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, carrying passengers and cows from Adamawa State to Lagos, lost control on the bridge and plunged to the ground below. The crash, which occurred on a Thursday night, caused significant injuries and damage to the vehicle. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with speeding and reckless driving being possible factors.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state confirmed the incident, stating that the driver was transporting 32 people and cows when the accident happened. Despite no fatalities, emergency responders were swift in attending to the injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The crash disrupted traffic flow in the area, with the left lane under the flyover being partially affected. Traffic management teams are on-site to prevent further incidents and clear the road obstruction. The injured individuals were transported to various hospitals for medical care, with the collaborative efforts of the FRSC, NPF, and emergency response services ensuring a coordinated rescue operation.
