US media name suspect in assassination attempt on Trump

In a recent incident near Donald Trump’s Florida golf course, a suspect, later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested by US Secret Service agents for carrying an AK-47 style rifle. The suspect managed to escape in a black car but was later apprehended by authorities. Routh, a 58-year-old self-employed affordable housing builder from Hawaii with a history of arrests, had been vocal on political matters, occasionally criticizing Trump.

Routh had shown support for Ukraine in their conflict against Russia and even expressed willingness to volunteer and fight on the Ukrainian border. His strong sentiments against Russian President Vladimir Putin were evident during an interview in Kyiv, where he participated in a demonstration supporting Ukrainians affected by the conflict in Mariupol.

The United States has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022. With President Joe Biden’s term ending soon, the future stance on the Ukraine conflict could vary depending on the incoming administration, whether led by Vice President Kamala Harris or potentially by Trump.
